The bus in Guadeloupe runs around the islands on a loose schedule.  The bus is a great way to get around Guadeloupe without spending a lot of money while seeing the sights and is notorious for being a lot of fun, but this is not the way to go if you are on any kind of time restraints as the bus often runs late.  Bus stops are marked, though if you are between stops on the route you can flag them down and they will let you on.

Taxis are plentiful at the airport, and many of the larger hotels will have taxis waiting out front.  While they are easy to find, Guadeloupe taxis are very expensive and will increase your budget greatly if you choose this as your main mode of transportation.  The taxis may not be metered, so be sure to negotiate the fare before leaving.
